USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76), the ninth Nimitz-class supercarrier, was the first ship of the United States Navy to be named for the late President Ronald Reagan. The contract to build the ship was awarded to Northrop Grumman Newport News and Dry Dock Company on December 8, 1994.
